Courtyard Garden

A copper and glass extension to this 18th Century farmhouse left the courtyard garden needing to bridge the gap between the two halves of this unusual and beautiful home. The brief was to create a space that looked stunning year-round, since it would be on display from the new floor to ceiling windows. Formal domes of evergreen yew were interspersed with wispy grasses complimented by pops of colour throughout the year from a selection of  low maintenance perennials and bulbs suited to this dry and shady site. A re-purposed copper cheese vat provides a wonderful focal point as an unusual water feature and cleverly makes a link to the new copper roof.
